13.05.13

I did some more samples today, experimenting with different fabrics and colours. I also decided on which design I am going to use for my final piece.

06.05.13

I have been sampling all week in the print room using different techniques, clours and fabrics. My favourtie fabric so far has been the Devore silk viscose, and I am looking at using this for my final piece.

01.05.13

Katherine exposed my screen so that I could start sampling today. I did two A2 samples so that I could see my screen in full, but one of my screens had not been exposed properly so the colour did not come through very well which made my screens look unfinished. I used black and red pigment dye on white cotten so I could see the colours and design clearly.

29.03.13

I finished my final design sheets with all my designs on and annotated, as I was waiting for my screen to be exposed today. I decided to flick through sketch book and fill in blank spaces and add things I had missed.

26.04.13

After cutting and sticking yesterday, I decided I preferred my visual sheet the way it was before. This was so time consuming and wasted a lot of time, but I just ended up tracing my original. I have decided to have two screens so some bits on it will be red and others black. I got these tracings done today and handed in to be put on to screens so I can start sampling on Monday

25.04.13

I decided I really liked my visual sheet as a tracing, and as there is not much time left on the project I thought this would be a good idea to use. There were some bits on my visual sheet I didnt like so I decided to photo copy it, cut it up and stick back down the bits I liked, then cut it up in repeat.

24.04.13

Today I did a weave sample using scrap bits of felt and ribbon I had collected throughout my project. I also added a little bit of lace to give it a nice texture. I stuck to my black and red colour theme and wove these materials together using a cardboard loom. I really liked my final weave, but decided to heat transfer my picture of my rabbit from my visual sheet on to it to give it further experimentation. The heat transfer did not work out as well as I hoped because of the texture of the weave and the picture I chose. Other than that I really liked this sample.

23.04.13

did some batik samples today, and took some inspiration from my batik artist with the colours I used and the splashes of ink instead of neat painting. I wrote a quote from Alice in Wonderland in batik using the Jantin, and then splashed different colour paints over the top. I then stuck this on a larger piece of card, and embroidered love hearts around the edge to make it look fancy.

22.04.13

I decided to do some extended samples on my felting today, so I heat transferred the picture of my clock from my visual sheet on to one of my feltings, and then cut around it in a circle. Then I embroidered some roman numerals and numbers on to it in different colours to extend it even more. After I had finished I over locked my felt to give it a neat and tidy edge. This is my favourite sample so far.

18.04.13

I started transferring my designs from my sketch book on to a sheet so they were bigger and clearer. I only got the background of the sheet done today.

19.04.13

I started my second visual sheet, by collaging all the images I found that related to Alice in Wonderland and drawing them on my sheet. I found images such as clocks, crowns, love hearts, mad hatters hat, cheshire cats smile amongst with others. I just kept this sheet to simple black and white as that is how I like it.

17.04.13

I carried on with my final designs today, and got another 4 done in colour. These now need annotating in my sketchbook then putting on to sheets.

16.04.13

I started my designs for my final piece in my sketchbook. There were a couple of designs I had seen of Hayden Williams that I really liked so I took some of them and made them my own. I enjoyed designing my dresses, and colouring them in afterwards in the colour s heme I am hoping to use. I got 4 designs done today.

15.04.13

I created a visual sheet today full of images I had collected throughout my research. It was a little rushed and not my best sheet but I got all the images on it and also used many different techniques such as ink and stick, pastels and poly print.

12.04.13

I finished my Hayden Williams sheet today, which is both my artist sheets done and out of the way. I am going to start looking in to patterns for my final design next week.

11.04.13

I came in to college today to start my second artist sheet on Hayden Williams. I did a lot of research in to him and was really inspired by his illustrations. Also I was able to take many ideas from some of his designs for my final design, and even though his Alice in Wonderland was not very original I really liked it in his style. Hayden Williams has been an illustrator I have admired for some time, so it was great to be able to use him as an inspiration towards my project.

10.04.13

Today we had another peer assessment today to make sure we were up to date with our work. I was pleased again with my feedback as my peers said they thought I was up to date and had 9 weeks worth of work to show. They also liked my sheets and sketchbook.

08.04.13

l added a little extra primary research to my sketch book which I had missed out, and put in the pictures from my visit to the Alice in Wonderland exhibition at the Tate Gallery Liverpool which I visited earlier on.

04.04.13

I did some character pages in my sketch book, so I could see the different colour schemes available for me to sample with. I picked my favourite four characters to look at and developed them in to collages in my sketch book. This is my Alice and Queen of Hearts page. These were the colours I liked the best and the colours I wouldn enjoy working with the most.

27.03.13

I did a little more research in my sketch book on museums and galleries which I could possibly visit to help me with my research. I also did some research in to costumes to give me some ideas for my final design.

22.03.13

I added some more pictures and research to my sketchbook, and also looked in to creative cvs and business cards for my professional practice.

20.03.13

Today I went in the print room to do some paper and felt making for my samples. I got quite a few felts done in different shapes and colours and also a few samples of paper making. When these samples are dry, I am going to extend them further by printing and embroidering on to them.

18.03.13

I finished my Connie Lim artist sheet today and I was really pleased with my final outcome. I was also happy with the research I had gathered on this artist. She was hugely inspiring and helped me alot with my further ideas for my project. I really love her work and will be using alot of her ideas in my own work.

15.03.13

I started my first artist sheet on Connie Lim today. She is such an inspiring illustrator for my theme as she illustrates on playing cards and uses a lot of black and red which resembles the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. Connie Lim has given me a lot of ideas for my project and helped me decide I am going to look closer at the Queen than any other character. I tested black and red paint flicks on my page before doing it on my sheet so I could see whether I liked the outcome, and then did it on to my actual artist sheet.

13.03.13

I finished putting all of my primary research in to my sketch book, and also started looking at cv's and business cards for my professional practice folder. This is part of my primary research.

11.03.13

I finished my theme sheet today by cutting out all my drawings and collaging them together on a big A2 sheet. I wasnt too sure of the final outcome as I like to stick to a colour scheme, but I was happy that I'd got the sheet finished to a good standard.

08.03.13

Today I started collecting images from the Alice in Wonderland books and films, such as pictures of the characters and a few quotes to create a theme board. I collected pictures of all the characters from the story, and then designed and drew them in my own techniques and styles to create an interesting theme sheet.

06.03.13

I carried on putting my primary research in to my sketch book by adding photos and annotating. I also wrote how and why they inspired me in my final project. We also had a peer assesment today where others in the group looked at our work to date and gave constuctive critisicm. I was pleased with the feedback I received.

05.03.13

I printed all my pictures from New York and put them in my sketch book with the rest of my primary research.

04.03.13

Back from New York, collected lots of Primary research for my project and visited loads of amazing and inspiring places. Was definatly a trip I will never forget. We visited the Alice in Wonderland statues in Central Park, and also found Alice in Wonderland mosaics in the Subway stations. There were also Alice in Wonderland costumes in the Build a Bear workshop which I found quite inspiring for my final piece.

24.02.13

Going on a trip to New York today with college, will hopefully get some great inspiration for my project. Hoping to visit the Alice and Wonderland statues in Central Park and maybe a little tea party.

22.02.13

I put all my primary research from London in to my sketch book, along with photos and annotation. I really enjoyed the trip and it gave me many inspiring ideas for my project. NEW YORK ON SUNDAY!!

21.02.13

We visited the Fashion and Textile museum in London today. This was inspiring for me as I was basing my project on fashion, and I also collected some photos of some inspiring jewellry that gave me some ideas for some extra accessories for my final piece.

20.02.13

Went on a trip to London to visit Valentino museum. Collected images from the market of things that inspired me for my project, such as a cheshire cat and an Alice in Wonderland game board.

18.02.13

I bought my sketchbook today from The Works, an A4 one as I thought it would be a little different from the A2 paper we were doing our sheet work on. I was then able to start getting my research together and sticking it in to keep track of what I had looked at. I did a title page, and a theme page, with pictures and writing about why id chosen this theme.

15.02.13

Today i gathered all my information an research together the finish my proposal. I decided on my final outcome and started researching in to the different versions of Alice in Wonderland e.g. Disney, Tim Burton

13.02.13

I carried on with my proposal today, but also looked in to some ideas for final outcomes. I decided I would like to produce a dress inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

11.02.13

Today I started writing my Final major project proposal. I decided finally to stick with Alice in Wonderland theme. I researched in to some artists I would like to look at throughout my project so I could mention these in my proposal. I came up with Connie Lim, John Tenneil and also Hayden Williams, as these were really inspiring for my final project.

06.02.13

Today I researched a little more in to my chosen theme to see which directions I could take it in and to make sure there was plenty to work from. I looked in to Alice in Wonderland fashion for inspiration and ideas. Here are a few photos I found while researching.

04.02.13

Today I started researching in to a theme which I would like to use for my final major project. I researched in to many things such as Underwater, fairies and princesses, but the one which stood out the most was Alice in Wonderland. This stood out as there are many different pathways you can take it, and I could also base it on fashion which is what I wanted to do.
